Anthem

Sunday night, some of us Colonial kids attended Anthem at Apex Baptist Church. It was a super awesome praise and worship good time where we just lifted our voices to God in praise. I've spent some time thinking about the word anthem and what it means. When I looked it up online, the first definition I came across defined anthem as being a song of devotion or loyalty. I pray that the song of my life is just that - actions, thoughts and words of pure devotion and loyalty to God and that I embrace the words of the anthems that I sing not only with my lips, but with my whole being.

Make a joyful noise to the Lord
All the earth
Make a joyful noise to the Lord
All the earth

The flowers of the field
Are cry'n to be heard
The trees of the forest
Are singing
And all of the mountains
With one voice
Are joining the chorus of this world

And I will not be silent
I will not be quiet anymore

Running through the forest
Dive into the lake
Bare feet on beaches white
Standing in the canyon
Painted hills around
The wind against my skin

Every ocean
Every sea
Every river
Every stream
Every mountain
Every tree
Every blade of grass will sing

These lyrics never made much sense to me. Can you explain the significance to me of the following:

Running through the forest
Dive into the lake
Bare feet on beaches white
Standing in the canyon
Painted hills around
The wind against my skin

That part is sort of random I do agree. But, the next part is totally awesome! To think about how great our creator is and the fact that He commands every part of us and nature down right to every blade of grass! Blows my mind really!
