It's Friday!

I've been really sad lately about my neglect of The Drawl. Life is just in super crazy mode. I have tons going on at work, tons going on outside of work and I'm trying really really hard not to be on my computer on the weekend. It makes me sad, but I'm determined to come up with some sort of plan to consistently update here, dagum it!

With that being said, I haven't posted in a week and here's a recap of my not too exciting week.
1. I made the meatballs - modified a bit by Blueberry Newberry to be better for my Operation Shrink-a-bootie campaign. Delish.
2. I ran the Krispy Kreme Challenge with MeMaw and followed it up with a bee-u-tee-ful afternoon on the picnic tables at The Flying Saucer.
3. I worked my butt off - at the gym and in the office.
4. I finally got an estimate for the repair for my Bojangle's drive-thru fiasco. The bobo (no pun intended) concrete hill of a drive-thru on Western took on Ron Burgandy* and won. But, the damage wasn't as bad as I was expecting.
5. Mel left me three voicemails on Tuesday night from the Eric Hutchinson show. She really had to rub it in. Mel + Eric = late night voicemail

Chow Time: Firehouse Turkey Chili

I've decided that I really have to cook more and stop eating out. I like to cook actually, but it's just hard when there's only one of you (plus or minus a roomate).

Last Wednesday, I decided to try Firehouse Turkey Chili.

While I might like to cook, I don't know a dang thing about it! Here I am trying to figure out what part of the garlic is the actual clove and how in the world one smashes it.

Did you notice the tummy? That's why we're trying healthy recipes. But, being healthy requires a lot of knife action. Exhibit A (notice smashed garlic glove).

Things got moving pretty quickly and before I knew it, that chili was simmering.

Said chili in my bowl.

How was the chili you ask? It was okay. It wasn't really a "chili" texture like I was hoping for (or I guess expecting) and was more of a tomato-ey soup. But, it wasn't too bad. However, I don't know that I'll be making it again.

This weekend, we're gonna have Spaghetti with Mozzarella-Stuffed Meatballs. It ain't healthy for ya, but come one, it's the weekend! I need some yummy nourishment sometime!

Talk About a Lunch Box!

In conjuction with getting my workout on, I've been doing a good job of bringing my lunch to work which not only saves me calories but money as well!

Well, the other day I was thinking "Man, my ugly blue Wal-mart lunch tote is hideous!" Imagine my glee when I found these. This is going on the Gotta Have It list!

Just a Workin' On My Fitness

I can't go to they gym without getting that Fergie song stuck in my head! I'm up in the gym just a workin' on my fitness...

Here's the deal. I joined a really, really nice gym in December with a really nice monthly fee to boot. And, I'm determined to go and get my skinny girl on!

So, I was talking to my girl Tonya Thursday night and we've developed an accountability plan. It works like this. We have planned to get up and go to the gym before work on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays. We go to different gyms, so we have to e-mail each other to make sure that we wuz workin' on our fitness. And, it's working! I love having her there to keep me honest!

In fact, I have been so determined that I'm going that I have pushed myself to go no matter what time I get up. This morning, I kept hitting snooze, but I still went and only had 15 minutes to run. And, I got mad with myself for only having 15 minutes and have decided to implement a reward system. I think what I'm going to do is start awarding myself $5-10 each day that I get up at 6:30 to get to the gym ON TIME and save up for things I want like a new Ipod or a Wii or some super cute Wellies. How does that sound? Anyone got any other suggestions?

Coach Yow

As most of you know, Coach Kay Yow passed away last Saturday morning. I encourage you to click here and watch her testimony that she recorded for her funeral when she was rediagnosed with cancer. It was an encouragement to watch her recognize the platform that God had given her and take advantage of it. We've heard stories of attendees of her funeral coming to know Christ following the service. Little did she know that her funeral would be broadcast twice on cable television and that her testimony would be all over the internet. And, I can't help but be challenged by Lori, the Campus Crusade for Christ member who Coach Yow talks about and how Lori's perserverance had such a huge impact for His kingdom and 30 years later would result in the Gospel being shared with hundreds. These women inspire me to do more for Him.

Coach Yow, I am rejoicing!
