Long live Rameses XVIII

Oh, it's the classic tale of jealousy and a son's desire to rule the throne.

Rameses XVIII was overthrown this week after his son Pablo executed a head-butt so fierce that it broke the horn of Rameses XVIII.

Read more about it here.

Be Prepared

I'm heading to Asia next week. I've been ready a lot of Paul's writings lately. He's got me remembering the scouting motto. Yup, Paul coulda been a Boy Scout.

Acts 21:13: "Then Paul answered, "What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart?" For I am ready not only to be bound, but even to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus."

2 Timothy 2:15: Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately, handling the word of truth.

2 Timothy 4:2: Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.

Titus 3:1 Remind them to be suject to rulers, to authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good deed,

To Market, To Market

On Saturday, Kara, Darren, Brantley, Mark and I met up for a nice three mile run around Lake Johnson. I was planning to go to the Farmer's Market afterwards, so we made a field trip of it and ate breakfast at the Farmer's Market Restaurant. YUMMY YUMMY IN MY TUMMY!

Kara and I bought some strawberries that were later made into some really tasty strawberry shortcakes! Yea, summer is almost here!

I love the inside of the restaurant. The murals are great!

I really have nothing to say about this. Words are not needed.

I traded in my car for this bad boy. It came with the flat front tire. Like the purse on the arm?

Looks like we might have a new Saturday morning tradition!

What NOW?

As a blogger, one of the things I enjoy is reading other blogs. Tara Leigh Cobble is a Christian artist that came to my church a couple of weekends ago. Unfortunately, I was out of town and missed what sounds like was an awesome time.

Why should you care? Well, I will tell you why. Her blog posting I read today was entitled What NOW? and God totally convicted me through this. My mom and mentors have always encouraged me to pray for my future husband, but I have to admit it is something I don't really do.

I have an idea of what I want my future husband to be like. I want someone who is obviously a Christian. Someone who puts God before all things. Someone who never allows me or our relationship to become an idol. Someone who has a hunger for the Word. Someone who is never satisifed and continually thirsts after a life that pleases God. Someone who obeys the Great Commission and has a mad zeal for missions. Someone who would travel to the ends of the Earth if that's where God sends Him. Someone who has no problem climbing on top of a roof every summer in 100 degree weather with a bunch of college kids. Someone who seeks to glorify God in all that He does. Someone who would hold me accountable every day of my life. Someone who would continously challenge me.

Not too much to ask, right? And, while these are my ideas, they might not be His will. But, I need to talk to Him about it. And, I need to pray for my future husband. I need to pray for his hopes, his dreams, his job, his health, his walk.

So, I'm jumping on this bandwagon and checking out this book and adding the future Mr. Ashely to my prayer list. He sure is gonna need it! :)

Beyond Measure

It's just been one of them days. One of them days where I am SO poor in spirit because I realize that I have no control and am totally reliant on God. I hunger and I thirst to live a life that is totally pleasing to Him. I desire to know Him and I yearn for His Word. And, God is SO GOOD that I can't stop grinning from ear to ear and I just want to dance and sing and praise my God with a big WHOOT! WHOOT! because that's pretty much all I can say.

Yep, it's been one of them days. My challenge to my self is for every day to be "one of them days".

I know that I’ve been,
Given more than beyond measure....
...I come alive when
I’ve broken down and given you control

New Soul

What is that song? "New Soul" by Yael Naim. Yea, Apple just launched her career. The song on the other hand makes me happy. I want to skip through Pullen Park with a huge red balloon and let this song be the soundtrack. La, la, la, la.....

La Tea Da

My good friend Jill's high tea bridal shower was this weekend in Charlotte at La Tea Da's. We drove thru a monsoon to get there, but alas, we arrived and enjoyed some scones and cucumber sandwiches. Aren't we just the perfect southern belles?

What's wrong with my neck you say? Well, I had the bright idea that maybe if I stuck my neck out then my five chins wouldn't show in the photograph. It worked. And, I look stupid.

Chew on This!

“The message of scripture and the gospel of Christ is not that in following Him everything is going to go right, but that He is enough, no matter what happens.” – Matt Chandler

Go Shorty. It's your birthday. We're gonna party like it's your birthday.

Birthday shout out to my girl La'Melanie! We met at work, our eyes crossed cubes and it was love at first sight. In fact, if it wasn't for her, I would have probably jumped off the third floor catwalk by now! She's a funny good time and I hope she has an awesome birthday and gets rid of that annoying eye twitch!

Happy Birthday Mel!
